About this experience
You will see the main sights of Samarkand, without which it is impossible to understand the history and character of this city. You will visit the mausoleum of Tamerlane and the Bibi-Khanum Mosque. Learn why Muslims visit the Shahi Zinda necropolis and the significance of Gur-Emir for Islam.
What to expect
- Gur-Emir Mausoleum - the mausoleum of the great Tamerlane and his descendants. I will tell you what this place means for the Islamic tradition and how it is connected to the mausoleum in India.
- Registan Square - the hallmark of Uzbekistan and the heart of ancient Samarkand. Here you will find the Ulugh Beg Madrasah, Sher-Dor Madrasah, Tilya-Kori Mosque, and the Shaybanids Mausoleum. You will learn where you cannot pray here and how they make silk paper. Optionally, you can visit the buildings inside.
- Bibi-Khanum Mosque - the oldest architectural ensemble in Samarkand, almost 7 centuries old. I will share why, when other palaces were destroyed to build new houses, this place remained untouched. There is also an authentic Eastern market here - if you wish, you will definitely visit it.
- Shahi Zinda Necropolis - an ensemble of mausoleums of the Karakhanid and Timurid nobility. You will explore the ancient parts of the cemetery and hear why every Muslim, who cannot go to Mecca, must come here.
