About this experience
I will show you Samarkand as you imagine it: a city of all shades of blue and aromas of spices, the city of Tamerlane and the Great Silk Road. Exploring the Gur-Emir and Shah-i-Zinda mausoleums, Registan Square, Bibi-Khanum Mosque, and observatory, you will unravel the intricacies of Samarkand's history, learn about its present, and immerse yourself in its warmth. And of course, we won't forget about pilaf and the bazaar!
What to expect
All the ancient and beautiful
By car and on foot, listening to my stories, you will explore the main attractions of the city contemporary to Rome:
- Mausoleum of Amir Timur (Tamerlane), or Gur-Emir: here lie the great conqueror himself, his sons, grandsons, and spiritual mentor. I will tell you about the architectural solutions of this place, about Timur's deeds and fate, and about the interior of the mausoleum - I'm sure you will be captivated by the "starry sky"!
- Registan Square - the heart of Samarkand with three madrasahs. You will imagine the times when these buildings served as religious schools and scientific centers, "read" the stories of the facades, and simply enjoy the beauty of the complex.
- Bibi-Khanum Mosque, where we will talk about Tamerlane again. He dreamed of building the best mosque in the world - inside, you will learn more about this and discover ancient legends.
- Artisan town "Konigil" - a picturesque place where you can relax from architectural structures and enjoy nature, the river, and clean air. And most importantly, you will see the process of making the famous Samarkand paper.
Flavors and life of Samarkand
You will walk through the colorful Siab bazaar, existing since the 14th century, where you will try traditional sweets and dried fruits. In 5 hours, I will tell you about the life of Samarkand from the inside, gladly answer your questions about Uzbekistan, and recommend other places to visit.
Additionally, the route can be adjusted according to your wishes and some objects can be replaced with others: for example, you can visit a tasting of aromatic and pungent Uzbek wines at a plant that has been operating since the 19th century, or admire silk carpets at a factory.
