About this experience
I offer a convenient combined option for independent travelers in Uzbekistan! I will lead you on a full sightseeing tour of Bukhara, then take you on a comfortable new crossover to Samarkand. There you can continue getting to know our diverse country. I will be happy to help you with this.
What to expect
You will see the main attractions of Bukhara:
- Lyabi-Hauz. The central square where I will show you ancient mosques, madrasas, and a reservoir that saves desert residents from the heat.
- Magoki-Attori Mosque. You will see a medieval column-dome mosque and learn what attracts archaeologists to it.
- Trade Domes. In the 16th century, Bukhara became the capital of a khanate: its bustling bazaars and craft shops filled the city. Their trade domes have survived to this day!
- Kalyan Minaret. The most recognizable and photographed place in Bukhara. You will find out why on the tour.
- Ulugbek and Abd al-Aziz Khan Madrasas. Twin madrasas, one of which still houses the legendary stork's nest dating back over two centuries.
- Ark Fortress. You will see the magnificent citadel that defended the city from the 4th century BC. I will share its rich history with you.
- Samani Mausoleum. We will visit the family tomb of the Samanid dynasty rulers and decode its architectural features.
In addition, I will show you the Chor-Minor Madrasah, Bolo-Hauz Mosque, and the Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa Palace - the summer residence of the last Emir of Bukhara.
