Samarkand through the centuries
We will delve into the history of ancient Samarkand. I will tell you about the traditions and customs of the Sogdians - the first Samarkand inhabitants, we will stroll through the ancient streets of the old city dominated by the magnificent monuments of the Timurids, do some shopping at the local bazaar, and also enjoy the exquisite cuisine that will not leave any gourmet indifferent. In addition, the excursion program includes:
- Gur-Emir Mausoleum - the family tomb of the great Tamerlane and one of the most important architectural ensembles of the medieval East. You will be impressed by the incredible craftsmanship: gilded paintings, latticed windows, and a dome that imitates the starry sky.
- Registan Square - I will reveal the history of this amazing place and help you understand the architectural features of its buildings.
- Bibi-Khanym Mosque - one of the most grandiose mosques in the entire Muslim world and the largest Friday mosque in Central Asia at that time. You will learn whom it is dedicated to and admire the beauty of its interiors.
- Siab Bazaar - a bustling Eastern market where you can try Samarkand sweets and dried fruits.
- Shahi-Zinda - a burial place of royalty and nobility, resembling a medieval city. You will walk through its narrow streets and enjoy the phenomenal beauty of ancient mausoleums.
