About this experience
Bicycles are the primary mode of transportation in Amsterdam, as traveling on foot can be time-consuming, and cars cannot access all areas due to the unique street layout. Thanks to the bicycle, we can quickly explore not only the city center, but also other landmarks of the city, its suburbs, and even visit a cheese factory.
If you want to take a tour that is as time-efficient as walking but allows you to see much more, I suggest not 'reinventing the wheel' and hopping on a bike with me to cruise around the city. I will tell you about the mass popularity of cycling in Amsterdam, how the Dutch learn to ride, the most valuable part of a bike, the differences between rural and urban bikes, where to buy them, and how they are 'honored'.
Today, many world capitals place special emphasis on bicycles as an ecological and economical mode of transport. However, nowhere is cycling in the city perceived as naturally as in Amsterdam! Cyclists here are the main participants in traffic. Bike lanes are everywhere, the climate is mild, the landscape is flat, and distances are short.
What to Expect
We will start at Dam Square and ride to Rembrandt Square, the flea market in the Jewish Quarter, cycle along the Amstel River, and visit the flower market. We will also venture to more remote areas: explore city museums and the main park, visit old port docks, and windmills.
If desired, we can visit a farm run by a Dutch farmer who will talk about the production of the famous cheese and offer a tasting of several varieties made on-site.
