What to expect
Preliminary briefing
All know that in Amsterdam, being a cyclist is an honorary title, and to earn it, one must know the rules well, respect other cyclists, and smile at each other on opposite roads. Before the journey, I will acquaint you with the special road signs and tell you about the basic principles of moving around the city. And, of course, I will accompany you throughout the journey, pausing in the most interesting places from time to time and telling you a little about everything: about the history of the Dutch capital, modern culture, and gastronomy (there will be two tasty stops along the route - herring and chocolate!).
Bright fragments of Amsterdam life
- The bike tour will start at Central Station, from where you will ride along the canals to a beautiful bridge, and then head to an observation deck with stunning views.
- You will see the country's largest science museum - Nemo, stop to take a closer look at an 18th-century ship, and head towards Nieuwmarkt Square, where bloody stories of the Middle Ages await you.
- You will navigate to the largest flea market in the Netherlands - Waterlooplein, to immerse yourself in the world of ancient items from antiquity to the present day: various paintings, figurines, clothing, and antiques.
- Continuing along the canals, you will encounter a flower market, and then visit Rembrandt Square, where I will tell you about the famous bronze installation 'Night Watch'.
- Next, you will ride through the heart of Amsterdam - Dam Square, where I will introduce you to a local wonder - the legendary palace on 14,000 piles, as well as the history of the capital's oldest church Nieuwe Kerk with a rather venerable organ.
- Rushing down one of the main streets of the city - Rokin, you will end up at the Begijnhof monastery, near which I will reveal interesting facts about a special religious movement and its representatives.
- The tour will end where it all began - at Central Station, where you will return the iron horses, and we will say goodbye until we meet again!
