Located 100 km from Madrid, Segovia is one of the oldest and most picturesque towns in the country. Just half an hour by train and you find yourself in enchanting medieval Spain. Visit the castle that inspired Disney, uncovering the era of the Catholic Monarchs. Explore the flaming Gothic of the cathedral. Admire the ancient Roman aqueduct. And of course, taste the flavors of Segovia.
What to Expect
Encounter a magical castle, Walt Disney's inspiration for his own creation. Explore the alcazar inside out, see authentic knight armors, bedrooms, and chambers of the Catholic Monarchs. Climb to the top of the castle-fortress for a panoramic view of Segovia.
One of the oldest aqueducts in the world, built by the Romans but locals pass on the legend about a girl and a devil, claiming their alliance gifted Segovia the aqueduct. Learn more about it on our walk.
An unusual house... with spikes! Yes, there is one here, built back in the 15th century. It's said that each spike holds a diamond within.
A magnificent Gothic cathedral, erected in the late and rare style of flaming Gothic. Few know that on its lower floors there is a secret gallery of religious paintings, which we will definitely visit.
Ponche Segoviano. We will offer you to taste the dessert made only here. A layered cake with custard cream, marzipan, and caramelized sugar that melts in your mouth.
Lunch at a restaurant (optional). After the tour, you can complete our eventful day in Segovia at one of the picturesque establishments. The flagship of the local cuisine is the suckling pig, prepared in a way that it's cut not with knives, but with plates!
Organizational Details
- We will travel together to Segovia on a comfortable high-speed train from Madrid Chamartín station. The one-way journey will take exactly half an hour.
- Additional expenses: train tickets for you and the guide (30€ per person round trip); entrance to the castle - 10€ for adults, 8€ discounted, children under 6 years - free; dessert and lunch
- The excursion itself takes about 3 hours, but usually, we suggest staying in Segovia for lunch to enjoy the authentic local cuisine
- The tour will be conducted by me or another guide from our team
