About this experience
A trip to Toledo is a journey to the 16th century. Since the Habsburg royal court moved to Madrid, everything in medieval Toledo has remained untouched. Half an hour by train - and you will plunge into the authentic atmosphere of the Middle Ages, where every stone and every building is several hundred years old.
What to expect
- You will stroll through the ancient streets and visit the house-museum of the world-famous painter El Greco
- You will visit the castle-fortress, from where the country was ruled for almost 1000 years
- You will enter the first general hospital in Europe, where everyone could receive medical assistance regardless of income and social status
- Enjoy aromatic coffee and local marzipan made by nuns according to ancient recipes
Organizational details
- We will travel from Madrid to Toledo by Atocha train station. The journey takes 30 minutes one way.
- Additional expenses: ticket to El Greco house-museum - 3 euros/person (plus guide ticket), train ticket to Toledo - 30 euros/person round trip (plus guide ticket), coffee and marzipan - optional
- Participants need to purchase tickets in advance on their own: if there are any payment issues, I can assist with the purchase
- The tour will be conducted by me or another guide from our team
