About this experience
Santiago is a modern metropolis and a keeper of Chile's centuries-old history. Glass and concrete skyscrapers neighbor the colonial center. You will see both! And also take a cable car to the top of the 300-meter San Cristobal hill, visit an indigenous fair, and appreciate the ancient fortress on a former volcano.
What to expect
Ancient fortress. We will climb to the top of a hill that used to be a volcano and explore the defensive fortress located on it.
Indigenous market in a cave. You will see and optionally buy unique souvenirs from Chile's indigenous peoples: Mapuche, Aymara, and Rapa Nui.
Bronze fountain. I will show you the magical fountain designed by French architect Victor Villanueva. It is customary to throw coins into it and make wishes.
Cathedral. You will tour the city's main cathedral in Baroque style, where all bishops and archbishops of Santiago are buried.
La Moneda Presidential Palace. If we're lucky, we will witness the ceremonial changing of the guard, which takes place every 2 days.
Modern districts. We will drive through the wealthy eastern districts of the city with skyscrapers, fashionable squares, and parks.
Cable car to San Cristobal Hill. At the intermediate station, you can refresh yourself in a huge outdoor pool. And at the top, you will see the snowy statue of the Virgin Mary and admire the city from a height.
Sea-themed restaurant (optional). Each room is decorated in its own style. You can have lunch on a stylized ship deck, in the captain's cabin, or in a submarine. The dishes here are served by robot waiters.
