What to Expect
First Capital of Georgia
So, in the first part of the trip, we will visit the sacred Mtskheta—a city of invaluable historical and cultural heritage. You will see places from Georgian chronicles and the very landscapes that inspired the words and brushes of Pushkin, Vereshchagin, Lermontov, Aivazovsky. Explore the Jvari Monastery with its unique, weathered façade of the Cross church. Investigate the nearby ruins, once part of great bastions. We will touch upon the history of the royal Bagrationi dynasty, surrounded by many legends and tales. At Svetitskhoveli, which was the cathedral, we will discuss the development of Christianity in Georgia and how faith united people.
Chateau Mukhrani: Bagrationi Family Estate and Wine Traditions
After the tour of historical monuments, we will head to a small town near Mtskheta, where you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of true Georgian aristocracy. At the center of the estate is a snow-white building, once owned by Ivane Mukhranbatoni, a representative of the famous royal lineage. Within the ancient estate are vineyards and a winery renowned for its exquisite Georgian wines. The place has stables and gardens. It captivates with beauty and easily immerses in nostalgia for bygone times.
You can choose from several ways to explore Chateau Mukhrani. It could be a tour of the premises with an overview of the architecture and history, a walk through the 19th-century wine complex, tastings, various enogastronomic masterclasses, a review of the qualifications and varieties of wine. You will also learn about the traditions preserved at the winery and the innovative technologies applied here.
