You will see both the main attractions of the Italian capital and 'hidden' amazing places that are not easy to find. You will also visit beautiful churches and courtyards hiding real treasures. I will tell you the history and mysterious legends of the places we encounter, share useful tips, help plan your trip, and give you my restaurant guide to Rome.
What to expect
Immerse yourself in the world of 'real' Rome
We will meet in the historic central district of Rome, where locals start their day chatting over a cup of coffee in a quiet square. Walking through narrow and very beautiful streets, you will reach the colorful Campo dei Fiori market, where you can try truffle sauces, cheeses, Italian liqueurs, and meat delicacies in an old butcher shop. Nearby, we will visit a medieval courtyard where time seems to have stopped.
Authentic Roman Ghetto
We will head to the former Jewish Ghetto - one of the oldest in the world. Its quarters have preserved authenticity and important ancient monuments. I will tell you the history and fascinating legends of this wonderful place. I will show you the famous bakery where they prepare the most delicious ricotta pie according to family recipes, and suggest where to try Jewish-style artichokes.
Later, you will discover the beautiful Mattei Palace, hear the romantic story of the Turtle Fountain, learn who Octavia was and why there is her portico in Rome. You will also see the amphitheater of the ancient Colosseum, where ordinary people live today.
Piazza Navona, Pantheon, and a surprise church
In the second part of the tour, you will stroll through Piazza Navona, the most beautiful baroque square in Rome with masterpieces by Bernini and Borromini, and visit the mysterious Pantheon. Over a cup of the best coffee in Rome, I will tell you about Italy's coffee culture and why Italian coffee is considered the best in the world. After resting and regaining strength, we will enter one of the most beautiful churches in Rome, where an interesting surprise awaits you.
My goal is to show you the Rome that I see living here: noisy and quiet at the same time, with the aroma of coffee and croissants, beautiful and very atmospheric.
