Legends and tales in every stone
A walk through magnificent Rome and my stories will be based on living legendary stories that each monument, palace, fountain, alley, and even stones and ancient columns hold. You will learn about the legends of the Eternal City and its outstanding inhabitants, hear secret stories from the lives of emperors, popes, artists and their muses, art servants, philosophers, military leaders, bandits, and saints.
Classic attractions in detail
In three hours, you will see many Roman treasures and immerse yourself in the richly plotted, great history of the ancient city. So, the tour program includes:
- Santa Maria del Popolo Basilica - here the architectural ensemble of the square of the same name will share its legends.
- Pincho Hill and Borghese Park - you will climb the Napoleon staircase to admire the panoramas and learn about Napoleon's investments in Rome and the aristocratic palaces of Villa Borghese. Additionally, you will be greeted by another impressive viewpoint, also named Napoleon's.
- Spanish Steps - a picturesque, elegant square that never fails to bring joy. It charms with a travertine white staircase, at the foot of which the 'Barcaccia' fountain gurgles, and from above, the composition is completed by the Church of the Holy Trinity. Learning about the legends of this popular corner of Rome, you will see the oldest cafe 'Il Greco,' where Byron, Stendhal, Wagner, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Fellini, Aivazovsky, Brullov, and many other creators sat at the tables.
- Trevi Fountain - a hymn to the purest water and aqueducts of Rome. You will feel like a participant in a fabulous water festival taking place on the stage of Palazzo Poli, learn about the marine sculptures of the fountain and its legends. And the god Ocean will grant your wish!
- Column Square - walking along Corso street, you will reach the square with the ancient column of the philosopher emperor Marcus Aurelius.
- Montecitorio Square - you will see the eponymous palace and the Kiji palace, where the government meets, as well as an ancient Egyptian obelisk with heraldic stars.
- Pantheon - the temple of all gods with a stunning dome with the 'eye of God,' whose secret has not yet been solved. Here we will talk about the ancient heritage of Rome and the great Raphael Sanzio.
- Navona Square - a huge fountain with an Egyptian obelisk, the legend of St. Agnes, reflecting the interests of Romans from the 1st century BC wanting 'bread and circuses' - Piazza Navona will stun you with its diversity.
- Castel Sant'Angelo - a mausoleum, residence of the Roman popes, prison, treasury of Vatican treasures, museum - you will open the pages of the amazing ancient castle, learn about its intrigues and the innocent blood shed.
- St. Peter's Square and Basilica - a place possibly enveloped in the greatest number of secrets in the world - the Vatican. You will hear the most interesting of them and appreciate the scale and importance of the architectural ensemble of the square.
Touch of Great Art
Since ancient times, the best talents have shone in Rome: you will see the works of the great masters of the Renaissance - Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, Maratta, Pinturicchio. You will often hear the name of the ingenious architect and sculptor Bernini: you will see his luxurious Fountain of the Four Rivers in Piazza Navona, telling the legend of revenge and joke in art, the elephant in Piazza Santa Maria sopra Minerva, and the colonnade of St. Peter's Basilica, which seems to embrace the whole city.
