About this experience
If your head and eyes scream 'enough' to the mass of dates and facts that bombard you at every step in the city, it's time to take a break and immerse yourself in the world of Roman legends! We will walk through 5 districts of the center and peek into the most secret corners of the city. I will tell you legends and unusual facts from the lives of modern city dwellers that you won't read anywhere else. Thanks to these stories, you will soak up the atmosphere of Rome and understand its inhabitants, both ancient and modern.
Program
We will walk through five central districts of Rome: Regola, Parione, Pigna, Sant'Angelo, and Sant'Eustachio - all these places are so different and yet somehow similar.
I will talk about the daily life, traditions, and skills of ancient and modern Romans, historical anecdotes about city landmarks, popular gossip, and legends. I promise not to overwhelm you with dry facts and dates and only tell the most interesting stories!
During this walk, you will learn, among other things, where Napoleon's mother lived, why Roman cats live in the center of Rome, and how Bernini got revenge on the Dominican monks. You will hear the secret of the Turtle Fountain and the sad story of Giordano Bruno. We will also admire the least romantic church in Rome and try real espresso in an old café.
Main points of the route: Piazza Venezia - Ghetto - Turtle Fountain - Roman Ruins (Area Sacra at Largo Argentina) - Pantheon - Piazza Sant'Eustachio - Piazza Navona - Campo de' Fiori - And many courtyards, doors, castles, ruins, columns, alleys, churches, and much more in the heart of Roman streets!
