Tales of Night Rome
About this experience
Evening Rome is incredibly beautiful. You will see this by taking a walk through the brightest places of the Eternal City. You just need to use your imagination and tune in to perceive the Roman fairy tale, where ancient goddesses of the night and moon reign. Luxurious palaces, temples, spacious squares, and fountains will reveal themselves to you in all their splendor, and the legends and stories that I will tell you under the cover of night will bring an atmosphere of mystery with a light touch of mystique.
What to expect
Colosseum, forums, and Trevi Fountain in the evening illumination
You will see the incomparable Colosseum in the light of the night lights and the moon's glow, Roman and imperial forums. From the Capitoline Hill, you will discover the ruins of ancient temples and palaces, which seem even more mysterious and ancient at night. Then, along the bustling Via del Corso, we will head to the city's main fountain - Trevi, where we will talk about the history and symbolism of the hymn to water and Rome's aqueducts. Here, you will witness a scene of a fantastic performance under the moonlight: the statue of God Ocean, swiftly rushing towards the viewers as if brought to life under the water jets, on a chariot - a huge seashell harnessed with sea horses, driven by Tritons.
Spanish Steps: the spirit of time and history of famous personalities
After Trevi, we will head to the Spanish Steps, where you will see another postcard view of Rome - the "Barcaccia" fountain in the form of an elegant white boat immersed in azure water. At the top of the Pincho Hill, you will admire the Church of the Holy Trinity, compositionally completing the famous Spanish Steps. During the walk on the square, I will help you travel back to the times when Byron, Stendhal, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Tyutchev, Aivazovsky, Chaliapin, Brulov, and other famous people strolled here and listened to the sounds of the Barcaccia fountain. They sat on the steps of the Spanish Steps, rested nearby in the artistic cafe "Il Greco" by candlelight and antique lamps. These places were also graced by the presence of the lover of all times and peoples - Giacomo Casanova.
The history of the mysterious Pantheon
You will appreciate the evening illumination of palaces and obelisks in the squares of Colonna and Montecitorio, stop by the 11 ancient columns of the temple of Divine Hadrian, and then approach the temple of all gods - the Pantheon. At night, it gives the impression of a huge living creature, and it seems that night birds - the guardians of the Pantheon - are about to fly out from behind the columns of its portico. Getting acquainted with the only intact ancient temple in Rome is an opportunity to get a complete idea of the beauty of ancient Roman architecture and understand the peculiarities of the religious cult of that era. We will pay special attention to the doors, one of the oldest in Rome, and talk about the Christian martyrs buried here. You will also see the 9-meter hole in the dome - the "Eye of God," attentively watching over the night life of Rome. And the masks of the fountain may remind you of monsters from whose mouths sacred water flows.
The guardians of the Fountain of the Four Rivers and the ghosts of Castel Sant'Angelo
At Piazza Navona, you will encounter Bernini's masterpiece - the Fountain of the Four Rivers. I will tell you the story of the creation of this work and the symbolism of the depicted figures, and the legend of Saint Agnes will complement your night journey with a mystical mood. Further, the path will lead you to the ancient castle, fortress, mausoleum, residence of the popes, prison, treasury of Vatican treasures, museum - all these functions were performed by one and the same building - Castel Sant'Angelo! In the night light against the backdrop of the Ponte Sant'Angelo and the night Tiber, the castle is easier to imagine in the times of the Middle Ages. It is said that the spirits of former prisoners awaken here at night: Giordano Bruno, Galileo Galilei, Benvenuto Cellini, Count Cagliostro, and of course, Beatrice Cenci. We will talk about the legends and stories that inhabit the city streets during the tour.
Legends and intrigues of the Vatican
You will walk along the wall of the famous Passetto - a fortified corridor that connected the castle with the Vatican, along which in the Middle Ages the popes fled from enemies (at that time, Castel Sant'Angelo served as a reliable refuge for them). You will hear legends and secrets of St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican - I will tell you about intrigues, poisonings, murders, and other mysterious stories that literally saturate the atmosphere of these places. You will admire the magnificent Bernini Colonnades framing the square, where fountains peacefully murmur, reminding of the transience and grandeur of human existence.

Victoria, excellent guide! Very interesting excursions and a great route. The tour is very lively, built not only on historical facts, but on legends and little-known facts. It was very interesting and I would like to hear interesting stories again.
