About this experience
It is known that in Paris there are streets that are "central, tall, and important, with luxurious shop windows and garlands of lights," and there are streets with low buildings, antique lanterns, and garden furniture in cozy courtyards... Let's explore a charming district with narrow picturesque alleyways. During the day, it is quiet and deserted here, but in the evening, with the opening of numerous bars and restaurants, these streets come alive and fill with an atmosphere of joy and carefreeness.
What to expect
Atmosphere of Parisian outskirts
You will see a completely different Paris - here, in the suburban areas, charming country houses are built and there is a non-capital atmosphere. You will visit an unusual square where there is a well with artesian water, a petanque playing area, and an outdoor swimming pool (if you enjoy water procedures, bring your swimwear). Until 1912, not far from here, the Bièvre river carried its waters, and poplar trees grew along its banks.
History of suburban districts
We will walk along Orchid Street, turn onto Poplar Street, stand on Diamond Street, and look at a residential complex of white houses with the cute name 'Little Russia,' which was built in the early 20th century to accommodate taxi drivers (immigrants from Russia). You will visit a charming street with private villas covered in wisteria and ivy. One of these villas was once home to the famous artist from the Minsk province, Chaim Soutine. And on a neighboring street, Lenin and Krupskaya lived in a small apartment in 1908. We will end the walk in the most beautiful park in Paris, created at the end of the 19th century and named 'Mouse Hill.' Why the park was given this name and other fascinating stories about this district will be revealed during our walk.
