About this experience
According to legend, Henry IV said, 'Paris is worth a mass!' In this route, we will encounter many landmarks related to his personality and the history of the kingdom during the Renaissance era. You will walk through atmospheric streets, admire the elegance of facades, hear about the 'Golden Age' of the Marais district and the religious wars in France, and relax on the quiet island of Saint-Louis.
What to Expect
Enjoying Architecture
We will walk through the village of Saint-Paul, where buildings from medieval Paris are preserved. You will see the elaborately ornate building of the Hotel de Ville and learn about the events that took place in the square in front of this town hall. We will also visit the Marais district, where many luxurious mansions from the 17th century are still located. Among them stands out the Sans Mansion, built in a Gothic style. After admiring its dark beauty, we will step into the inner courtyard of the Sully hotel and discuss the symbolism of its sculptures.
King, Religion, and Culture
On the Place des Vosges, we will talk about Henry IV, whose past is closely linked to this area. You will hear about his rise to the throne of France, his religious views, and the consequences they led to. Intriguing stories about the courtiers of the French crown, their customs, and, of course, the fashion of that time will add spice to our narrative.
Pleasant Saint-Louis
Afterward, we will head to the Island of Saint Louis, which is more bourgeois and less touristy than Marais. Its architecture has remained untouched for almost four centuries, creating a unique atmosphere that makes the island an ideal place for a stroll any time of the year. You will learn about the inhabitants of this prestigious area, and after the tour, you can independently visit the neighboring island of Cite.
Sweet Bonus: During the summer, you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious ice cream made according to a centuries-old recipe from the 16th century. And you will also discover where to try the most delicious crepes in Paris.
