About this experience
This tour is about the Prague that even its locals learn about all their lives. The landscape of this district is visible to all entering the city via the Nusle Bridge. The residents of Prague love this district, walking here on weekends and weekdays. For tourists, these quarters are still 'Terra Incognita' - unknown land.
Program
The district is little described in guidebooks, large tourist groups do not come here. It is practically the outskirts of the Prague center, but at the same time the very center of the city. It is such a unique district of Prague where even an experienced traveler would find it difficult to understand the details without a guide.
Here is a street where one of the decisive battles in Czech history took place. Around the corner lived Josef Schweik, a friend of the writer Hasek and the prototype of his famous hero, and this is one of the favorite beerhouses of the 'bravest soldier' himself. Here is the museum of composer Dvorak, and not far from here was the hospital where his colleague Smetana died. In these quarters, there is unique architecture of all styles from Romanesque to the famous Czech neo-Gothic of the XIX century. The names of architects are in textbooks and the history of architecture. Here is also a student town of the XIX century. And unusual churches, monasteries of the XIV century - UNESCO World Heritage sites. The only historical police museum in the Czech Republic and the most famous maternity hospital are also here.
During the tour, we will visit historical places of Christian pilgrimages and today's quiet prayers. We will see real icons that emperors and kings prayed to. I will tell you the details of the centuries-old history that has lived on these streets. Together we will see the most beautiful interiors of Orthodox churches in Prague, of which there are several here. And all this is unusual quiet quarters for the capital city today, hidden parks behind high walls, descents and ascents, and even their own, by the way, first city and university Botanical Garden.
Many things here are open to tourists only one day a week. Let's take advantage of the opportunity!
