About this experience
Every year, millions of travelers come to Pisa to see the truly amazing sight, one of Italy's symbols - the leaning tower. On this tour, you will not only learn the details of its construction and 'rescue', but also immerse yourself in the city's history while strolling through its medieval streets.
What to expect
Legacy of a maritime republic
This Tuscan city was once one of the four maritime republics in Italy and a rival to the powerful Genoa in the struggle for trade routes in the Mediterranean Sea. The buildings in the Square of Miracles tell the story of its 'golden age.' We will visit the Cathedral, Baptistery, and, if desired, the Monumental Cemetery. Since you've come all this way, we will inspect everything thoroughly inside and out.
The Baptistery holds an unusual musical-acoustic surprise for you. And at the cemetery, you will see the medieval frescoes 'Triumph of Death,' the restoration of which was completed recently. They look scary but magnificent at the same time! We will also visit other areas of the old center of Pisa, stroll through medieval streets, and discover many interesting places.
Architectural wonder
Of course, we will admire the Leaning Tower of Pisa: this structural marvel must be seen while it's still standing. You will learn all about the history of its construction and reconstruction. I will also tell you why the locals loved to depict scenes from the afterlife and what objects the Pisans now keep in churches as relics.
