About this experience
I invite you to a journey through Southern Italy - the heart of the Mediterranean. Here you will find the most anticipated discoveries, immerse yourself in the ocean of sincere hospitality, visit the homes of locals, and taste traditional 'non-touristic' dishes.
Here live kind, cheerful, and hospitable people. There is no commercial attitude towards travelers here. It smells of Italian spirit, sea, pasta, and warmth.
Program
My one-day gastronomic tour is a new way of traveling aimed at exploring tastes and authentic traditions. In this context, food plays a new role, conveying information about the territory, culture, and values related to the land and roots.
- I will pick you up from a convenient location and take you to a masseria - a family estate where fresh cheeses are produced. Here, you will see the entire cheese-making process and have the opportunity to taste it. Mozzarella, burrata, ricotta, caciocavallo, stracciatella, scamorza - just a few of the delicious cheeses abundant in Apulia. They are stuffed with olives, paprika, walnuts, chili peppers, delicate cottage cheese, and uniquely crafted hard cheeses take the shape of amusing animal figures. There are 10 varieties of mozzarella cheese in Apulia, each differing in taste, texture, and shape. A true horn of plenty! After this tour, you will be able to prepare exclusive types of cheeses at home and impress your guests.
- Next, we will visit a winery where you can witness the process of producing Apulian wine, meet sommeliers, and taste wines. Apulian wine graced the tables of ancient Rome, as described in the writings of Tibullus, Pliny the Elder, and Horace, who praised its aroma, taste, and color. Thanks to them, detailed descriptions of the winemaking processes of Apulian wine from ancient Roman times have reached us. Later, in the Middle Ages, Emperor Frederick II thought that good wine must come from Apulian vineyards, and he was right. Apulia is known for producing high-quality wine. The international magazine 'Wine Enthusiast' published the 'top 2013 wines,' where Apulian wines ranked top in the international wine tourism market.
- Following that, there will be a tour of an olive oil mill, where under the guidance of the owner, you will learn about the production of olive oil and discover the secret of making the famous Extra Virgin oil. After the tour, you will enjoy a tasting of oil, olives, and light snacks.
- In addition to the above, this tour includes visits to 3 cities: Alberobello, Cisternino, Ostuni, for which I will provide you with guided tours.
