What to Expect
Part 1: Old Town
Walking through Lesser Town and Kampa, you will discover the calm and leisurely Prague. By the statue of John of Nepomuk on Charles Bridge, you will 'correctly' make a wish. Strolling along the Royal Route, you will enter the Old Town and explore the Old Town Square with its highlight - the Prague Meridian. You will also admire the St. Nicholas Cathedral, Tyn Church, Jan Hus Monument, and the Astronomical Clock. Along the way, you will definitely hear the legend of the Golem, created from clay to protect the Jews from Christians. Learn about the history of the famous Prague Chimes and other bright symbols of the city.
Part 2: Jewish Quarter
Special attention during the walk will be given to the Josefov Jewish Quarter with the grand Paris Street. Today, it is not only one of the most expensive districts in the city but also an open-air museum. On Maisel Street, you will examine 3 synagogues: the oldest in Europe Old-New Synagogue, High Synagogue built in Gothic style, and Maisel Synagogue, now housing a museum with cult objects. Moreover, the area is famous for enigmatic clocks that go backward. Guillaume Apollinaire wrote: '... And the hands of the clocks of the Jewish Quarter began to creep backward, and the past came...' - what he meant and what their real function is, you will uncover in our meeting.
