About this experience
This journey will unveil Armenia to you as a country of winemaking and an architectural museum under the open sky. We will visit two wineries, 'Armenia Vine' and 'Voskevaz', where you will delve into the secrets of Armenian wines and taste the finest of them. Then, you will stroll through the ancient streets of Gyumri, learn about its history, and explore the legendary Black Fortress.
What to Expect
Tasting Armenian Wines
Our eno-travel starts at one of Armenia's best wineries, 'Armenia Vine', located near the town of Ashtarak. In the winery's laboratory, hundreds of specialists create high-quality wines using Armenian and French grape varieties. You will tour the halls and cellars of the winery, visit the local museum, and of course, taste the delicious wines produced by 'Armenia Vine'.
Famous Armenian Grape Varieties
In the mountainous region of Aragatsotn, we will visit the winery 'Voskevaz', which translates as 'Golden Bunch'. The winery building against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Aragats resembles a fairytale castle. Wines here are made exclusively from Armenian grape varieties - you will appreciate the local dessert wines, hear the history of the winery during the tasting, and discover the intricacies of viticulture in Armenia.
Architectural Marvels of Gyumri
After getting acquainted with Armenian wine, we will explore the second largest city in the country - Gyumri. We will examine the architectural monuments of the Old City, visit the Mother Armenia monument after a traditional lunch, as well as the Black Fortress, where you will understand why a part of the structure resembles the figure of the Greek goddess Nemesis, hear the history of how the citadel defended the western borders of Armenia, and other interesting facts about the fortress.
