About this experience
I am an archaeologist and a wine tourism expert. My tour was born at the intersection of these fields. The main focus is on wine and grapes in Armenian culture. You will get acquainted with architecture and archaeology without leaving the wine theme. You will see ancient vessels for fermentation, have lunch in a restaurant that cannot be found without a local, visit a cellar where there are more wine jars than doorways.
What to Expect
Republic Square. You will see reliefs depicting grapevines. I will talk about Neoclassical architecture of the Tamanian era and the influence of medieval spiritual architecture on buildings of the Soviet period.
Museum of Armenian History. You will see ceramics and wine vessels ranging from the Neolithic era to the late Middle Ages.
Lunch in an old Yerevan courtyard under grapevines.
Wine Street with cozy restaurants, where the annual YereWine wine festival is held.
Saryan Street, which has become the center of attraction for all wine lovers in our city.
19th-century cellar in the Old Nork Quarter. We will drive to a family winery. You will visit an operational cellar and taste local wines of indigenous varieties under the grapevines in a picturesque courtyard. You will try rosé, white, red wines, including qvevri wines (amphora).
