About this experience
The heart of Copenhagen – the well-known Town Hall Square, the pedestrian street Strøget, and the waterfront with the Little Mermaid. But where to find the soul of the city? Let's head to the Carlsberg district! Here you will discover the most important milestones of the Danish capital's history – from industrial boom to the flourishing of modern architecture. And I will tell you how these places reflect the character and mentality of the Danes.
What to Expect
Where it all began?
Legend has it that in 1845, the son of a beer-loving brewer Jacob Jacobsen showed his father the hills, where two years later the industrialist built the first factory building. Today, it is no longer an industrial district, but a whole urban district. I will show you that very Valby Bakke (translated from Danish as "hill") and examples of how old factories have turned into world-class masterpieces.
And what now?
On the tour of the former Carlsberg brewery grounds and the surrounding area, you will learn about the master plan that formed the basis for all the new development. Be amazed by the diverse and whimsical architecture of the complex: at the gates, huge elephants will greet us, and copper panels on the walls will remind you of brewing vats. And you will also learn about unusual eco-friendly solutions that have made the district an example of "green" architecture.
Will there be beer?
Definitely! After the tour, you will have the opportunity to taste Carlsberg products at the local tourist center.
