About this experience
Did you know that the largest urban development project in Europe is currently being implemented in Hamburg? It's called HafenCity, which means 'port city'. I invite you to get to know it! You will see the housing of the future and the famous Elbphilharmonie building. Be impressed by the 'water courtyards' and overlook the 'giraffe harbor' from a height. And I will help you understand the vision of local architects.
What to Expect
Elbphilharmonie. While looking at one of the most unique buildings in Hamburg, we will discuss the concept of 'starchitectural' in an urban context.
Magellan Terraces. A microdistrict named after the legendary Portuguese navigator. I will show you its symbol - unique 'water courtyards' in the housing of the future.
HafenCity University. You will see a modern educational center focusing on architecture and urban development. Discover what and how they study here.
360° Viewing Platform. We will assess the 'giraffe harbor' from a height and discuss the ambitious ideas of northern Germans.
If desired, we can take a break for coffee and an unusual dessert at a cozy local establishment halfway through the walk.
