About this experience
This journey will take you to the historical center of Montenegro - to the Christian shrines and fantastic landscapes of Lovcen National Park. We will drive along a dizzying mountain serpentine, taste authentic dishes in the village of Negushi, stroll through the ancient streets of Cetinje, and admire all of Montenegro from a bird's eye view.
What to expect
On the Austrian mountain serpentine
Before, only the bravest travelers could conquer the Black Mountain, and only at the end of the 19th century did the Austro-Hungarian Empire create an engineering miracle here - a steep serpentine with 25 turns. On the way to the top of the mountain from here, you will be amazed by the panoramas of the Bay of Kotor and the surrounding area. You will also see the Gorazda fortress - an abandoned Austro-Hungarian fort from the 19th century, crowned with a mortar dome: I will tell you about the construction of defense lines in the Montenegrin coast and share stories of the battles of World War I.
Negushi and Cetinje - the origins of Montenegrin history
We will also make a stop in the village of Negushi, the ancestral village of the rulers of Montenegro. Here you will touch the history of Montenegro, see the preserved house of the ruler from the Petrovic-Njegos dynasty. And then you can taste Montenegrin delicacies: prsut (specially prepared pork), homemade cheese, honey, wine and rakija. The next stop will be the old capital of Montenegro, Cetinje, where in the 15th century Montenegrins saved themselves from the Ottoman invasion. We will take a walk through the shady city, talk about its architecture, and visit the famous Cetinje Monastery.
Panoramas of Lovcen National Park
"Slavic Sparta", "Eagle's Nest" - you will see that the nicknames of Lovcen National Park are well deserved. Once on the top of Mount Ozer, you will visit the mausoleum of the revered Montenegrin metropolitan Petar II Petrovic Njegos. From the observation platform of Lovcen, you will see all of Montenegro - from Cetinje and Podgorica to Lake Skadar and the Bay of Kotor! And on the way back, you will stop for lunch in the picturesque mountain village of Ivanova Korita in the shade of a beech forest.
