About this experience
A castle made of white stone on the shore of the blue sea. Any princess's dream. And this dream came true for Princess Charlotte of Belgium in 1856, thanks to her husband - Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg. During the excursion, we will take a walk through the palace and immerse ourselves in the whirlwind of events from the life of this royal couple, starting from the day of acquaintance and happy wedding of the Archduke of Austria and the Princess of Belgium, and ending with the dramatic denouement.
Ferdinand chose a beautiful cliff for the construction of his summer residence and erected a castle that fit perfectly into the landscape of the karst coast of the Trieste Gulf of the Adriatic Sea. The castle was built in an eclectic, fashionable style of that time, sending the contemporary into a medieval fairy tale. However, the life of Charlotte and Maximilian resembled more a dramatic series than a fairy tale.
Program
In addition to the tour inside the palace walls, the excursion includes a walk in the park with exotic plants, which was laid out by Maximilian, who was seriously passionate about gardening in the global sense of the word. He brought plants from all the countries he visited and planted them in his garden.
