Mineral waters, wine and khachapuri in the homeland of Mayakovsky
About this experience
Vladimir Mayakovsky once said about himself: 'As soon as my foot touched the Caucasus, I remembered that I am Georgian...'. You will travel along the road that passes through the rocks to the poet's native house, where a museum was founded in the middle of the last century. A story about the fate of Mayakovsky and his family, the decoration of a Georgian house, khachapuri, excellent Imeretian wine, and mineral springs of 'the land where deer roam' - all awaits you on a soulful excursion from Kutaisi.
What to expect
Poet of the revolution's homeland
Mayakovsky's house-museum is located in the town of Bagdadi, and here everything is just as it was when the poet's family lived. A cozy yard with centuries-old trees, a carved balcony-gallery, authentic furniture in the living room and bedrooms. You will immerse yourself in the story of the poet's father, mother, and Mayakovsky himself, who, like his parents, spoke Georgian well. The old walls of the house are imbued with the spirit of that time, the silence and tranquility of life surrounded by shaggy mountains. The creak of the floors, a bright quilt on the bed, patterns on the wooden tabletops will help discover new tones in Mayakovsky's poems. And not far from the museum, you will see a tribute to the poet - a monument to him was erected in Bagdadi in 1965.
Land of deer - sanatorium for high-ranking officials
From Bagdadi, we will travel through a beautiful gorge to the resort of Udabno, where once the remains of Udabnopitek, one of the human ancestors, were found. From there, we will go to Sairme, to its mineral springs. Sairme was called 'the land where deer roam', but today it is famous for its thermal waters. During the Soviet years, high-ranking party leaders came here for restorative treatment, and now any traveler can relax in Sairme, try different types of healing water, and even bathe. Optionally, you will not only try the mineral water, but also the excellent wine of this region, paired with khachapuri.
Organizational details
- Transfer is included in the cost of the excursion. Wine and khachapuri are paid for separately.

Despite some shortcomings: the route was a bit poor for 7 hours, and Sergey still has room to grow as a guide, I am very grateful to him for being able to show the spirit of the real Georgia, organizing unplanned visits to wineries and introducing me to interesting people, thank you Sergey

The presence of the guide did not justify itself. It would have been much cheaper and without any harm to the experience to take a comfortable car and go on our own.
