About this experience
The suburbs of Rome are very rich in villas and palaces. Many famous Roman emperors and figures of the Renaissance sought solitude outside the mighty walls of the Eternal City and chose the territory of modern Tivoli for this purpose. Thanks to this, we have a wonderful opportunity to visit two magnificent architectural masterpieces - ancient Roman and medieval: the Villa of Emperor Hadrian and the villa of Cardinal d'Este.
Program
- Our journey will begin at the villa of Cardinal d'Este - a stunningly beautiful landscape complex consisting of a palace, a charming Italian garden, more than five hundred fountains, a huge number of water bodies, pools, cascades, and grottoes. This gem of garden and park art is a prototype of the Versailles royal park and the fountains of Peterhof. In 2007, the villa rightfully received the award for the 'Most Beautiful Park in Europe'.
- We will then visit the Villa of Emperor Hadrian - this palace complex was his country residence. It brought together all the thoughts, desires, and ambitions of the Emperor, who wanted to recreate impressions from his numerous travels and personally participated in the planning of his villa. We will see temples, theaters, libraries, magnificent halls and colonnades, baths, barracks for the Praetorian Guards of the Emperor, quarters for courtiers, all surrounded by a luxurious Alexandrian garden. During the walk, you will not only enjoy the treasury of examples of ancient Roman architecture but also learn the rich history of Hadrian's life, closely related to the history of Ancient Rome.

Great knowledge about the villa and ancient history. We loved antiquity more. Excellent information about the technical device of the villas and why it happened that way back then. A wonderfully spent day! Historical knowledge is deep.

The magnificent tour saved us from a cold and rainy day. Sergey turned out to be deeply knowledgeable on the subject, extensively erudite, and engaging in the topic of the tour. With a simple presentation, sometimes with humor, he unraveled for us complex and convoluted historical intricacies.
