About this experience
Learn how to cook pasta and risotto in a real kitchen of a Piedmontese osteria in the heart of a cozy town. At the master class with a chef, you will discover the secrets of famous dishes, learn about the nuances and traditions of the Northern Italian cuisine, and see that preparing agnolotti, gnocchi, or risotto is a task that everyone can handle. And then you will taste the dishes you have prepared yourself accompanied by Piedmontese wine.
What to Expect
Cooking lunch like Italians! At the master class with chef Sabina, you will prepare two types of first courses (ravioli, gnocchi, or risotto) and a classic Italian dessert. In a fun and relaxed atmosphere, you will learn how to knead and roll out dough for fresh pasta, determine the readiness of risotto and pasta 'al dente', quickly assemble tiramisu, skillfully combine ingredients for dishes, and other culinary secrets of Bel Paese. I will tell you about the history of the dishes you have prepared, the features of regional cuisine, and the gastronomic traditions of the Northern Italians. And then, of course, you will taste all the prepared dishes with excellent Piedmontese wine specially selected to match your menu.
Sample menu of the master class (choice of):
1. Ravioli with ricotta and spinach; agnolotti with meat filling; tagliatelle with mushrooms.
2. Risotto with gorgonzola; gnocchi with 4-cheese sauce; gnocchetti with gorgonzola.
3. Tiramisu; panna cotta; crostata with fruits or berries.
Understand the nuances of Italian cuisine The cuisine of the north-western regions of Italy differs significantly from that of the central regions: for example, olive oil is less commonly used here, pasta yields priority to risotto, and in the dishes, you can trace gastronomic borrowings from other countries. Wines, cheeses, sausages, polenta, gnocchi, potato dishes, exquisite desserts - the emergence of all this variety has been directly influenced by France, Switzerland, and Austria.
Walk through medieval Arona The restaurant where the master class will take place is located near the famous alpine Lake Maggiore. Before or after the lesson - as you wish - we will stroll through the medieval streets of the coastal town of Arona and its waterfront, admiring the views of ancient castles and mountain peaks. And then you can climb one of the tallest statues in Europe - the statue of San Carlo - or visit the remains of the fortress of Roca di Arona.
