Martvili Canyon and Prometheus Cave Tour in a Mini-Group from Batumi
About this experience
It's hard to choose the most beautiful places in Western Georgia: they're all stunning. But we've made our choice and now we want to show them to you! Let's start by sailing along the cliffs of Martvili Canyon. Then we'll descend into Prometheus Cave with its amazing stalactites and stalagmites. Relax in the hot springs and share your impressions. Let's discuss how the Colchian culture inspired the Greeks and what legends enriched the Georgian lands.
What to Expect
Martvili Canyon
Explore one of the most beautiful places in Western Georgia - Martvili Canyon. Over thousands of years, water has carved its way through the limestone to create this natural wonder. Sail along the steep cliffs and witness the river turning into a waterfall at the canyon's exit. You'll also see the fossils preserved in the depths of the canyon.
Descending into Prometheus Cave
Among the thousands of caves in Imereti, Prometheus Cave is the largest. Inside, you'll find impressive stalactites and stalagmites forming frozen stone waterfalls, and underground lakes untouched by sunlight. You can paddle a boat along the underground river from inside the cave.
Thermal Springs
The temperature of the hot springs is around 70 °C. However, where they mix with the waters of the mountain river, the temperature is optimal and pleasant for the human body. Relax in therapeutic baths, enjoy the surrounding nature, and rejuvenate.
Georgia's Cultural Heritage
During the trip, we'll talk about the mentality of the Georgian people, their kinship ties, and the origins of the Georgian language. You'll learn about the Kartvelians, hear local legends, and connect with the legacy of the Colchian culture that inspired the Greeks to create the myth of the Argonauts. You'll also try to guess what was transported in the amphorae found at the bottom of Lake Paleastomi.
