About this experience
On this journey, you will visit the homeland of famous Georgian wines in sunny Kakheti. Walk through the atmospheric streets of Sighnaghi and overlook the Alazani Valley, where the grape variety Saperavi is grown. Visit the monastery where Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia, is buried. Discover wine traditions in the region's capital Telavi and taste the wines.
What to Expect
Manavi and Badiauri. The first stop in Kakheti includes two villages where you will taste homemade wine, Georgian Snickers - Churchkhela, and "Dedas Puri" bread that you can bake yourself in a traditional bakery.
Photogenic Sighnaghi. Stroll through the stone streets of this "Italian" town surrounded by ancient walls and towers. Admire the wooden balconies, panoramic views of the Alazani Valley, and learn about the history of Sighnaghi, built by King Irakli II in the mid-18th century.
Monastery of Saint Nino in Bodbe. A place of special significance for our people. This is where the Christian enlightener of Georgia is buried. Explore the complex, delve into the ancient history of the country, and appreciate the beauty of the monastery courtyard.
Telavi. In the capital of Kakheti, listen to stories about the famous rulers who lived here. See the thousand-year-old oak tree. Visit a wine cellar for a tasting of Georgian wine and learn about the technology of its production in special vessels called qvevri.
After lunch at a restaurant, return to Tbilisi via the picturesque Gombori Pass.
