About this experience
Khiva is a bright, almost untouched by time, example of a medieval Eastern city. You will walk through ancient winding streets, visit wonderful mosques, mausoleums and palaces. And I will tell you about the great civilization of Khorezm, the Khivan khans, and architects. I will show you all the most interesting things and help you immerse yourself in the local atmosphere.
What to Expect
Old City of Khiva
We will take a walk through the authentic Old City, surrounded by mighty defensive walls. It has almost not undergone reconstruction and has preserved its original appearance to this day. The excursion program includes:
- Kalta-Minor - you will appreciate the only minaret in Central Asia, completely covered with brightly colored blue tiles. This decorative detail makes an incredible impression!
- Juma Mosque - we will inspect the unique mosque, without portals, domes, galleries, and inner courtyards. The ceiling of its large hall rests on 213 wooden columns: you will learn where they were brought from and admire their amazing carving.
- Mausoleum of Pahlavan Mahmud - I will show you an ancient architectural complex and tell you about the Sufi saint buried in it.
- Tash-Hauli Palace - you will walk through the main palace of the Khivan khans in the 19th century and learn about their way of life.
