About this experience
I will show you the main attractions of Madrid, but I will tell you about them as a Madrilenian would: with love, but also not hiding the flaws. You will discover the secrets hidden behind the majestic facades, where to taste the best chocolate in the city, and then try 'caña' - the favorite aperitif of the locals!
What to Expect
Madrid Off the Beaten Path
You will get to know the main attractions of Madrid, but you will walk to them through detours, discovering the inner life of the city, its peaceful corners, and pleasant places. I will tell you why Madrilenians call the Almudena Cathedral the ugliest building in the city. Why the strawberry tree - the main symbol of the city - has nothing to do with strawberries, trees, or even Madrid. I will reveal the secret of which queen is associated with the famous expression 'the secrets of the Madrid Court'. And of course, I will tell you about the history and legends of the capital, its famous inhabitants, and the intertwining of their destinies...
Locals' Favorite Spots
I will introduce you to the locals' favorite spots in the city that tourists do not know about. You will discover that the most delicious hot chocolate can be tasted not in the famous 'San Ginés', but in an inconspicuous chocolatier nearby. You will learn to distinguish 'churros' from 'porros' and help the Madrilenians settle the debate of which one is tastier. We will also visit one of the popular bars and, like true Spaniards, try 'caña' - a glass of local beer considered the favorite aperitif of Madrilenians.
During our three-hour walk, you will see Madrid through the eyes of its residents and be amazed at how the superficial view of the city from guidebooks differs from the vibrant reality!
Organizational Details
Separately from the tour, the tasting of local beer in a Madrid bar is paid - 1 euro per 'caña'.
