What to Expect
Harmony of the Past and Present
Starting at Puerta del Sol square, we will take a walk through the streets of Madrid to observe the local life - I will talk about the customs, traditions, and manners of old and modern Madrid. You will see the main attractions - the Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral - and hear not dry historical facts, but interesting stories from the past. You will learn why one of Madrid's houses is called the 'House of the Lamb', where the first bullfight took place, and why two main squares compete for the status of the main square.
Unconventional Spots in the City
During the tour, you will discover the most interesting corners that not all locals are aware of. I will show you the oldest restaurants of Spanish cuisine, Antonio Banderas' favorite barber shop, and a building with two main entrances. You will learn why Madrileños are called 'cats' and find the city's symbol - the 'Bear and the Strawberry Tree' statue.
Tapas - the Taste of Madrid
Spanish cuisine is another highlight of the country. There are many traditions associated with food here: you will learn which dishes are usually cooked for holidays and how to do it properly. To fully experience local cuisine, you will visit San Miguel Market, where you will taste various tapas - the iconic Spanish appetizer.
