About this experience
Madrid holds many treasures. A bike tour is an exciting alternative to a walking tour and a wonderful way to get to know the Spanish capital in the shortest time possible. You will see all the city's 'must-see' landmarks: the most significant squares, churches, palaces, and parks. I will tell you about the traditions, history, and architecture of Madrid in an accessible and engaging way, as well as the character and customs of its residents.
What to Expect
Iconic Places in the Historic Center
You will see the main attractions of Madrid: the Habsburg Quarter, the central Plaza Mayor, the ancient Plaza de la Villa, the magnificent Almudena Cathedral, and the official residence of the monarchs - the Royal Palace. You will also discover the Oriental Square and immerse yourself in the romantic atmosphere of the Sabatini Gardens. Next, you will visit the oldest structure in the capital - the Debod Temple, which was safely relocated to the Madrid hilltops over forty years ago from the banks of the Nile River in Egypt. I will share interesting facts from the city's history, its streets and neighborhoods, traditions and customs of its residents, and pay attention to the features of the main architectural monuments.
Bohemian Quarter and Legendary Park
In the second part of the tour, you will visit the Spain Square and Isabel II Square, then explore the literary district 'Barrio de Las Letras' - a favorite relaxation spot for Madrid locals and guests. Here you will feel the spirit of the geniuses of Spanish literature of the 17th century, known as the 'Golden Age' in the country's history, see the house of Lope de Vega and the place where Miguel de Cervantes lived and created, and enjoy the bohemian atmosphere of the Sant'Anna Square. Additionally, you will be impressed by the hanging gardens created by the famous French biologist Patrick Blanc, 'get lost' in the Retiro Park, and visit the 'Gate of the Sun Square.'
