About this experience
You will see the romantic knight's castle in the Bavarian Alps that inspired Disney and Tchaikovsky, feel like an aristocrat in elegant medieval interiors, be impressed by the pristine Alpine nature, and the beauty of the picturesque village of Oberammergau. After the tour, you will confidently say, 'We have been in a real Bavarian fairy tale!'
What to Expect
'Swan Castle' Neuschwanstein
Neuschwanstein is the most beautiful castle in Germany, nestled on a rocky slope in the quiet of the Bavarian Alps. It became the embodiment of the dream of the most mysterious king of Bavaria - Ludwig II. I will introduce you to the history of the life of the mysterious ruler, his dreams, fantasies, joys, and tragedies. You will also learn about Ludwig II's unusual friendship with composer Richard Wagner and the strong influence of the castle on Disney and Tchaikovsky. The tour includes not only exploring the magnificent medieval facade of Neuschwanstein but also visiting its interior halls with mosaic floors, numerous wall paintings, and marble staircases. You will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 19th century and discover why all the architecture and artistic decorations of the castle are permeated with swan motifs.
Royal Castle Linderhof and the pilgrimage church of Wieskirche
In the second part of the tour, you will visit another castle of Ludwig II - Linderhof. This is the only one of the king's 'fairy-tale' palaces whose construction was completely finished in his lifetime. You will be amazed by the magnificent interiors of Linderhof, created by the best artists of Europe. The luxurious halls wonderfully combine the whimsical grandeur of the Baroque and the sentimental lightness of the Rococo. You will also admire the refined decor of the Wieskirche church, built in the 18th century by the Zimmermann brothers, and take a stroll through the most picturesque Bavarian village of Oberammergau. I will tell you about the features of its architecture, painted houses, and the popular wood carving art here.
