Luxor is home to a multitude of unique archaeological sites that are worth seeing to gain a better understanding of Ancient Egypt. We will take you to the West and East Banks with stops at places like the Hatshepsut Temple, Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temples. You will be able to go inside, and we will immerse you in history.
What to Expect
West Bank
- Colossi of Memnon. First, you will explore the huge statues weighing 1000 tons, built for King Amenhotep III.
- Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Deir el-Bahari). This mortuary temple for Queen Hatshepsut. The temple is carved into the rock, allowing you to admire its exquisite architecture and surrounding natural landscapes.
- Valley of the Kings. During Luxor's time as the capital of Egypt, known as Thebes, tombs were carved into its rocks for pharaohs and important nobles of the New Kingdom. The valley gained fame after the discovery of the tomb belonging to the golden pharaoh Tutankhamun.
- Alabaster Factory. After visiting historical sites, you will get a glimpse of modern Egyptian life on the West Bank of the Nile. If you wish, you can purchase handmade crafts at the alabaster factory.
East Bank
- Karnak Temple Complex. The largest temple complex in Ancient Egypt, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here awaits the largest hypostyle (columned) hall in the world. Here you will also find the tallest obelisk in Egypt - the Hatshepsut obelisk.
- Luxor Temple. A stunning monument of the New Kingdom right in the heart of the modern city. It is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
