About this experience
Luxor is a vast open-air museum, divided by the Nile into two parts. On the right bank, you will visit the greatest temples of Ancient Egypt: Luxor and Karnak. On the left bank, you will admire the Colossi of Memnon and explore the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs and queens rest. And I will share the history and legends of these incredible places with you.
What to Expect
A Rich Day in Luxor
We will visit the 'city of the living' and then cross the Nile by boat to the 'city of the dead'. The excursion program includes:
- Luxor Temple - you will decipher its architectural features, admire the papyrus-shaped columns and majestic statues. You will uncover the role the temple played in the religious life of Ancient Egypt and the important holidays celebrated there.
- Karnak Temple - I will show you the sacred lake, the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, and chapels dedicated to the gods. I will tell you how the temple was expanded by each new ruler and the interesting stories connected to it.
- Valley of the Kings - we will visit the most famous ancient necropolis in the world. Currently, 63 tombs have been discovered in its area. You will see the main one - the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, found by the archaeologist Carter 100 years ago.
- Hatshepsut Temple - located at the foot of the cliffs, it is dedicated to the great female pharaoh. You will hear the amazing story of Hatshepsut and find out why she was depicted as a man.
- Colossi of Memnon - two huge statues in honor of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Made of sandstone, they guarded the entrance to the temple. I will reveal why one of the colossi is called the 'singing' one.
Organizational Details
- Transfer from the hotel in Luxor to the starting point of the excursion in Luxor is included in the price
- Transfer from Hurghada to Luxor and back is paid separately
- Entrance tickets are paid additionally: Karnak Temple - $13, Luxor Temple - $11, Valley of the Kings - $16, Hatshepsut Temple - $9
- If you are a group of 3 to 8 people, there is an additional charge for a minibus - 10€ for everyone
- Upon request, I can meet you at the airport. The supplement will be $30.
