About this experience
Ancient Luxor captivates with its architecture and envelops in mysteries. A journey in a comfortable individual format will help you delve into the history of Ancient Egypt and unravel its secrets. You will follow the footsteps of a famous archaeologist, visit the Valleys of the Queens, Workers, and Nobles. You will see the Colossi of Memnon and examine the exhibits of the Mummification Museum.
What to Expect
We will pick you up from any point in Luxor and show you what the 'city of palaces' is famous for. On a comfortable minibus, you will drive through its streets, observe the locals, hear the history of Luxor, and learn about the daily life and local traditions. The excursion program includes:
- Carter's House - the house-museum of the British archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb. You will see several rooms: the office where the archaeologist worked, the dining room, Lord Carnarvon's bedroom, the dome hall, as well as the living room where a 3D presentation is shown.
- Nobles Valley - a necropolis on the west bank of Luxor. Here are over 500 tombs of nobles and close pharaohs. We will tell you about the ancient tombs, teach you to decipher the preserved wall inscriptions and paintings.
- Deir el-Medina Workers' Village - the place where craftsmen lived, creating the pharaohs' tombs. You will learn about the amazing local finds - papyri telling about the life of an ancient Egyptian settlement.
- Valley of the Queens - a historical monument where the tombs of pharaohs' wives and children are located. We will discuss why the burials are in the desert and how they are connected to the pharaohs' treasures.
- Mummification Museum - here are samples of human and animal mummies, as well as materials, tools, liquids, and vessels for their creation. The museum itself is small but very popular among tourists.
- Colossi of Memnon - two tall statues on the west bank of the Nile. You will hear about their purpose and understand why one of them is called the 'singing at dawn.'
