About this experience
In search of adventure, we will walk through the winding narrow streets, illuminating the path with the flame of a candle burning in an ancient lantern. You will hear the legends and scary stories for which Tallinn is famous, and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of magic and mystery. I will show you the main mystical landmarks of the Old Town and tell their stories: you will see the Town Hall, the house with a bricked-up window, St. Nicholas' Church, the garden with ghosts, ancient towers, and other interesting places. A little imagination - and fairy tales will come to life before your eyes!
What to expect
Walk through the medieval city
We will meet at the oldest town hall in Northern Europe. You will learn what the most famous clock in the world crowning its spire is called in the popular belief. From Town Hall Square, we will walk along Dunkri Street to the mysterious well. I will tell you its history and the chilling legend of the house with a bricked-up window across the street. Then we will head towards St. Nicholas' Church. You will hear an instructive story about the deeds of St. Nicholas and go through a ritual of cleansing sins according to medieval urban traditions.
Tales of ancient towers and barons
From Knight Street, we will ascend a secret staircase to the Danish King's Garden. Surrounded by powerful towers, this is the most 'ghostly' place in the city. You will learn about the ghosts of the Maiden and Junker towers, executioners, ancient wars, and divine signs. We will descend down Short Leg Street to the gates of the Upper Town. I will reveal the secret of the Long Hermann Tower and tell the life stories of eccentric barons who once lived here.
Tallinn at a glance
We will ascend to the viewing platform of Patkuli, where you will enjoy a stunning view of the city and its majestic cathedrals. From the high hill of Toompea, we will descend to Nuns Street and see the frozen deer at the foot of the hill, whose sad story will conclude our candlelit journey.
Who is this tour for
I recommend it especially to families with children, as young travelers love legends and mysteries and, captivated by fairy tales, easily complete the two-hour route.
