What to expect
Pitti Palace outside and inside
The palace building will immediately strike you with the contrast between its external and internal appearance. Here, ascetic architecture blends with the magnificence of the interiors. I will explain how the palace decor gradually evolved and how the tastes of the owners influenced its history. Every decorative element is intentional, and I will clarify the role of each detail - vases, frescoes, grand staircases, sculptures, and stuccoes. All of this will help you immerse yourself in the aesthetic luxury of Italian aristocrats and understand how it is structured.
Collection of masterpieces of European art
In Palazzo Pitti, you will stroll through two painting galleries with a remarkable collection of canvases - here are presented famous artists without whom you cannot understand Italy and Italian art. In the Palatine Gallery, you will see paintings by Titian, Caravaggio, Raphael, Giorgione, and other painters of the Renaissance era. In the Modern Art Gallery, we will discuss the paintings of the 18th-20th centuries, and I will give you the keys to understanding Italian painting. You will learn to distinguish art from different eras, looking at vivid representatives of the Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Classicism, Neoclassicism, Macchiaioli, Divisionism, and others.
