About this experience
Marrakech is the quintessence of the history of the Arab world, a crossroads of Europe, Arab and Black Africa. Here the cultures of Ancient Rome and the Sahara tribes, Catholic Spain and France of the art nouveau era have come together. You will immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the city, see the complex and fascinating history in a unique interweaving of cultures, learn to bargain like Moroccans, discover your fate from a fortune teller, and take a photo with a cobra.
What to expect
You will visit one of the most beautiful palaces of the Maghreb - with gardens and fountains, luxurious rooms, intricately painted ceilings and exquisite carvings - and see how the life of the rulers of the Maghreb and their entourage was arranged. We will talk about the present, very extraordinary, King of the country Mohammed VI, as well as about Arab and Berber art, why it formed in this way, and how to understand it. And of course, you will hear intrigues and secrets related to the royal court of the Maghreb.
Learn to bargain like the locals - cheerfully, enthusiastically, and with mutual pleasure. You will learn to understand the quality of local products and how to distinguish handmade from genuine works of decorative-applied art. No one will ever be able to sell you Tuareg necklaces under the guise of Berber ones again :)
Feel the atmosphere of the main square of the medina. Here is belly dancing and henna painting, charlatans of all kinds, snake charmers, trained monkeys, amazing acrobat boys from a religious order, storytellers and Gnawa musicians in pom-pom hats, a one-man band and water bearers in bright costumes with tambourines. You will not only enjoy the fabulous view, but also learn what is hidden behind it - because behind each character in the square there is its own tradition, and sometimes a tragic history.
And also
- Observe the work of craftsmen and, if you wish, try your hand at crafts.
- Try many national dishes - snail soup, cactus fruits, pastilla, sweets.
- Learn to tie the tagelmust turban as real Tuaregs do, and brew Moroccan tea.
- In one of the non-touristic quarters, get acquainted with the lifestyle of local residents. Learn what it is like to be a Moroccan today.
- Visit caravanserais and medersas, dye houses and hidden courtyards of riads, beautiful gardens with orange and lemon trees and fountains, and galleries of contemporary art.
As a result, you will have a better understanding of Moroccan culture and understand why so many Europeans have been moving to this beautiful country in recent decades.
