About this experience
We will not only visit the iconic places of the city, but also delve deep into its history. We will talk about the crusades, the Masonic church, the Venetian ghetto. We will remember famous Italians who glorified Venice at different times - Marco Polo, Galileo Galilei, Giordano Bruno. We will visit a tavern where Casanova used to frequent and other famous personalities.
What to expect
Piazza San Marco.
- I will touch on the topic of the Fourth Crusade to Constantinople, from which the Venetians brought looted treasures of the ancient Byzantine Empire on ships
- We will talk about the famous columns of Venice. You will learn how they lay on the embankment for 70 years and how a famous engineer raised them. I will reveal the secret of the third sunken column to you.
Ancient Rialto district.
- We will visit the palace where German diplomats and merchants lived. You will tour the inner courtyard and get an idea of how such buildings were constructed in Venice.
- We will walk across the Rialto Bridge to the city's oldest fish market
- We will stop by a tavern where Casanova liked to visit. If you wish, you can have a glass of wine and taste the famous Venetian sandwiches - cicchetti.
Masonic Church and Venetian Ghetto.
- Then we will cross the canal on a gondola to the opposite side. I will show you the Masonic church where rituals were held to accept new Masonic brothers.
- We will visit the Venetian Ghetto - the oldest in Europe. Today it is a district with antique shops and inexpensive cafes. We will talk about the 500-year history of this place. It is striking in its mystery and cruelty.
- At the end of the tour, we will return to the Rialto Bridge
