About this experience
You will travel to the stunningly beautiful Vayots Dzor region in the south of the country. Explore the famous monasteries of Khor Virap and Noravank, learn about the long-term imprisonment of Gregory the Illuminator, and see Armenia's iconic mountain, Mount Ararat. You will also visit the village of Areni and taste delicious local wine.
What to expect
Ararat Valley. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the snowy peaks of Mount Ararat from different angles and discover the biblical traditions associated with it.
Khor Virap Church. The place where the baptism of Armenia began. You will learn about its underground prison, where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was held captive for 14 years.
Areni Winery. You will taste Armenian wines and hear interesting facts about local winemaking.
Noravank Monastery. An ancient monastery complex set against terracotta cliffs. You will admire surreal landscapes, explore two medieval churches, and a chapel.
