About this experience
Sitang is a poetic water town. The streets are narrow, bridges are elegant, and the buttons are the largest in the world! At least one of them. We will stroll along countless canals, admire fairytale houses, visit unique museums and wonderful gardens, taste rice wine, and take a boat ride. You will see a place where the real ancient China continues to peacefully exist.
What to Expect
- Wine Culture Museum. Here you will learn about Chinese drinking traditions, try rice wine, and admire the beauty of bronze, ceramic, and jade vessels used to pour wine.
- Button Museum. From the oldest to the largest in the world, you can find any button here! You will see how craftsmen create clasps from shells and even make buttons for Tang suits yourself.
- Zhujunfang Garden. The Wan family believed that if you plant goodness, you will harvest it. And the lush garden created here by caring hands confirms this belief.
- Xiyuan Western Garden - the largest private garden in the town. You will admire the blooming plants, elegant bridges, ancient pond system, and waterfalls.
- Shipi-lun Alley. Winding 'moon' alleys are an integral part of Sitang. I will tell you how many of them are laid out and where they lead. Most alleys are no wider than 1-2 meters, but we will reach the narrowest and therefore the most famous one - Shipi-lun.
- Bridges. There are 104 bridges in Sitang, each with its own style and legend. We will cross the most famous ones - Anren, Anjin, Wufu, Laifen, Yunnin, Dushen. We will enjoy the views they offer and learn the most interesting stories associated with them.
- Veranda Galleries. The village's hallmark is galleries stretching over 1 km along the rivers, protecting people from the weather. You might have seen such verandas in the movie 'Mission: Impossible III'.
- Canal Walk. At the end of the walk, I will offer you to board a boat and ride through the quiet canals, to see Sitang from another perspective and fall in love with it completely.
