What to expect
Amazing Celle
In my story about the city's history, legends will harmoniously intertwine: who loved Celle so much that he prohibited it from being bombed during World War II? Is it true that there was a horse market here? Where do people study if there is no university in the city? You will discover many strange facts and visit the following places:
- Ducal Castle, built in a mix of Renaissance and Baroque styles. You will examine the fortress, stroll through the perfect park, and discover a charming sculpture.
- St. Mary's Church: a monument as old as Celle itself. Like much in the city, it has preserved its original appearance since construction.
- New Town Hall building: you will surely wonder why such a large town hall for such a small Celle. And I will tell you how it was used.
- Old Pharmacy – I will explain what makes it remarkable during the walk. I will also season the story with a couple of legends that emerged in this place.
- French Garden, which emerged from betrayal. It sounds unbelievable, but it's true! You will hear who betrayed whom and why it became a prerequisite for creating a luxurious garden.
Of course, you will explore an important component of Celle – half-timbered houses: 500 charming buildings untouched by war will certainly captivate you.
