About this experience
Eternal child and incorrigible romantic—this was Salvador Dali. On a journey from Barcelona to the town of Pubol and the city of Figueres, you will discover these and other facets of his personality. You will see a sample of 'dream architecture' and a medieval castle that became a peculiar mausoleum to the memory of his wife. And you will uncover the story of one of the most brilliant couples in the world of art.
What to expect
We will travel 140 km from Barcelona to the Pyrenees. These places were of great importance to Salvador Dali: here he first exhibited his paintings to the public in 1919, and the baptism ceremony took place in the Church of Saint Peter. I will show you two cities symbolizing the two facets of the genius's life: public and personal.
Figueres
A small town on the border with France, where Salvador Dali was born and died, today known as the 'cradle of geniuses.' Here is the Salvador Dali Theater-Museum, gifted by him to his town. Being next to the building, you will see surrealism in all its glory. And in the museum, you will find some of the greatest works of the artist, from his earliest artistic experiments to his latest creations. In addition to the main exhibition, you can visit the jewelry exhibition based on sketches by the great surrealist.
Pubol
A small town known for Gala's castle—a true medieval citadel decorated in a surrealist style. It was a gift from the Artist to his Muse, where Dali could not enter without written permission from his beloved. I will tell you why this fortress never surrendered to him.
