About this experience
Get acquainted with the largest and most significant museum in Spain, where famous works of the great surrealist are presented, cannot be compared to a regular museum visit. For a while, you will become participants in a real show directed by Dali. Starting with aromatic coffee in the square, you will embark on a journey through the 'temple of surrealism', delving into mysterious meanings and learning interesting facts from the non-trivial biography of the artist. And to conclude — visit a local restaurant where you will be served wonderful Catalan dishes.
What to Expect
The Master's Performance, where you are the Artists
In the theatre-museum, we will arrive early in the morning to be the first to enter and skip the lines. Before crossing the threshold of this 'temple of surrealism', we will have a cup of aromatic coffee in the Gala-Dali Square — a mandatory condition and a wish of the master himself! The artist wanted visitors to gradually prepare for their visit to his museum, and he alone knew the direction of the show, in which everyone became a full-fledged participant and artist. You will enter a real theater: with a cloakroom, foyer, stalls, balconies, an orchestra pit, and finally find yourself behind the scenes.
The World of the Great 20th-century Surrealist
Salvador Dali was unbearable and cruel, generous and sentimental, and powerful. Throughout his life, he shocked the public and stirred the consciousness of those around him. And the works of the great theatrical artist reflected the entire spectrum of these manifestations. You will walk through all the floors and rooms of the museum, hear interesting facts from Dali's biography and work, and on the example of the brightest and most controversial works, try to decipher the multi-level system of meanings laid down by the creator. We will separately discuss surrealism as a direction — you will learn about its history of emergence and the main concept reflecting a new view on art and its role in society. Additionally, you will visit the Salvador Dali Jewelry Museum — the presented collection leaves no visitor indifferent and also reveals new facets of the master's eccentric creative path.
Lunch at a Catalan Restaurant
After the tour, I will take you to a wonderful restaurant where usually only locals come, and you will get acquainted with the incredibly delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Over lunch, we will discuss the experience of encountering Dali's work, exchange opinions, and try once again to interpret the symbolism of the master's mysterious works.
