About this experience
The Temples of Abu Simbel are considered the main monuments of Egypt after the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. Carved into a 100-meter cliff, they stand tall amidst the desert as a sign of Pharaoh Ramesses II's victory over his enemies and a testament to his love for his wife - the beautiful Nefertari. Join us on a trip to these great structures and touch the legends of the ancient world.
What to Expect
Great and Small Temples of Abu Simbel
The large structure is dedicated to Pharaoh Ramesses II. Its facade is adorned with images of gods, the ruler himself, and his family - mother, wife, and children. The walls inside the temple preserve reliefs depicting ritual and military scenes. Twice a year - on February 21 and October 21 - an interesting optical effect can be observed here. The sunlight illuminates the statues of Ramesses II and Amun-Ra. The sun never falls on the god Ptah, the lord of the underworld. The small temple is built in honor of the pharaoh's wife - Queen Nefertari.
Immersion in the Past
The guide will tell you about the past civilizations and legends of the ancient world, the history of the temples, and their salvation from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
