About this experience
We are going to Dendera and Abydos - the places where the main temples of Ancient Egypt are erected. You will see the sanctuary of the goddess Hathor, examine its exquisite sculptures and learn why the goddess was depicted as a cow. In Abydos, we will visit the temple of Osiris with excellently preserved images of gods. We will talk about the first pharaohs and recall the myths about the lord of the afterlife kingdom.
What awaits you
- The temple in Dendera is dedicated to Hathor - the goddess of love, joy, music, and motherhood. It was erected 5000 years ago, but still amazes with its majestic architecture and impressive main entrance. Hieroglyphs on the walls of the temple and richly decorated ceilings make the sanctuary one of the most attractive and visited in Luxor. You will admire exquisite sculptures telling about the sacred rituals of the ancient Egyptians.
- The temple of Osiris in Abydos is located almost 135 km north of Luxor. The images of gods and pharaohs here are considered the most fully preserved in Egypt. You will see the tombs of the first pharaohs of the early dynastic period, as well as several monuments of the 19th Dynasty, which existed during the heyday of the New Kingdom. Examine the hieroglyphs and frescoes depicting scenes from the history and myths of Ancient Egypt.
